TS Galaxy’s teenage midfielder Ethan Brooks says it is amazing to be playing alongside his idol Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane.
Brooks, who recently represented the national under-20 team at the Cosafa Cup, made his DSTV Premiership debut this month against Mamelodi Sundowns.
He began his career at Mondeor Meteors FC, before joining the Jabez Football Academy. Before joining Galaxy he was playing for Panorama FC.
Brooks says he was delighted to make his senior debut for Galaxy.
“To be honest, it was something that I’ve always wanted to do,” Brooks told the Galaxy website.
“Making my debut against Sundowns was exciting. I wanted to go there and prove myself. I didn’t expect it because I just came back from the national duty. I was shocked but at the same time excited when I got a call.”
“In the next 12 months, I will like to see myself getting more game time and playing in the first team. After that I’ll like to see myself playing overseas. That is my long term dream. The next 12 months, we will be to get in to the starting eleven and start contributing.”
Who did the 19-year-old idolise as a youngster?
“He’s currently playing for the team right now. Yeye Letsholonyane is my idol. I grew up looking up to him. It is amazing [to play alongside him]. It is something else.”
“I started loving him since the age of 11. I’m glad that I have him alongside me. He will be able to offer me advice and guide me. I’m happy to play with him.”
