Broos’ 7 New Players In Provisional Bafana Squad

With Hugo Broos having named a 36-man provisional squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Ghana, iDiski Times looks at the seven new players the coach has called up.

Bafana are currently top of Group G in the qualifiers, one point ahead of Ghana, and positive results in both matches could see Broos’s team advance to the next stage.

Broos has brought in seven players who weren’t part of the last provisional squad he named, ahead of the back-to-back wins over Ethiopia earlier this month.

In the goalkeeping department, Broos has called in Oscarine Masuleke, who replaced Sifiso Mlungwana. Mlungwana has not been active at club level lately, with Maximilian Mbaeva starting recently for Golden Arrows.

In the defence, Arrows’ defender Sbonelo Cele has got a call up, while Mamelodi Sundowns’ defender Mosa Lebusa (who withdrew from the last squad with injury) and Baroka’s Vusi Sibiya were omitted.

In the midfield, Goodman Mosele drops out from the selection, as another Arrows player, Nqobeko Dlamini, gets his first call up, while AmaZulu’s Siyethemba Sithebe was recalled.

In the attack, the injured Vincent Pule is out. In-form Kaizer Chiefs winger Keagan Dolly has been called up, as has Cape Town City’s Fagrie Lakay, and another Arrows player in Pule Mmodi.
