Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has again praised the qualities of defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi though also touched on what he believes the player still needs to work on.
Mbokazi played in his first match for Bafana since the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Morocco and on home soil since his departure to the USA in January.

The 20-year-old joined Chicago Fire where he’s had an impressive start playing in all their five matches so far. The side is currently fifth on the Eastern Conference log in the MLS with seven points.
On his return home, the former Orlando Pirates centre-back scored a screamer in Bafana’s 2-1 loss to Panama in the second friendly between the sides in Cape Town on Tuesday.
Broos said he appreciates Mbokazi’s quality however the player still needs some talking to regarding his temper.
“If you talk about Mbokazi I think everybody saw again today he’s a very good defender,” said Broos.
“The only thing with Mboki and he’s young is that sometimes he loses temper and he has to be careful with that.
“But I like more someone with the will to fight and has that mentality than a soft guy. So, he’s a defender I will talk to him about that.
“It’s something that he does when he starts to be nervous and then he loses his temper. But we will talk to him and he will learn quickly.”
