Simphiwe Shozi the brother of former Mamelodi Sundowns prospect Khayelihle Shozi has opened up on the situation of his younger sibling, who had been missing until recently.
The player went missing towards the end of October last year, disappearing without a trace, while he was plying his trade at GladAfrica Championship side JDR Stars.
However, the 27-year-old was found on the streets, digging in rubbish bins, and living under a bridge – with his brother confirming that he has mental problems.
Simphiwe Shozi has thanked South Africans and the football fraternity for their overwhelming support during the searching process, but now pleaded for more financial support to take him to doctors.
“Now I am busy to find some ways to help him, to know how I can help him where he needs help,” Simphiwe told Thomas Mlambo on Ultimate Sports Show.
“I found him, it was a process and that was not the end because now I require help so that I can help him out. I need a serious help financially, so I can help him in terms of what he needs to attend, where they can help him.
“I thank everyone who helped me find him, I would like to say thanks, but what I wish now is to help him, his situation is better and promising now, I’m able to say after month there is different, they tried to help him.
“I’ve made an appointment with a certain Doctor who has been helping him with the situation he’s faced, who helped him with some medication. So, I think from Friday I will be able to talk about the name of the private hospital he will be admitted to.
“And I tried to get all information for where I can take him to, there is this private hospital called Vista Clinic in Pretoria, now I have all papers they gave me and said if I’m able to bring him to them, they will try to help him, and they told me everything, and it might cost me around R24 000 upwards.
“I’d like to thank everyone who may help me so that I’m able to help him.”
