Cape Town Spurs were crowned the 2022 Bayhill Premier Cup champions after beating Stellenbosch 2-0 in the Roger Clayton Section final at Erica Park on Monday afternoon.
It was the club’s first triumph at the annual under-19 tournament since 2014 when they were still known as Ajax Cape Town and the first win for a Western Cape team in six years.
After a goalless first half, Juninho Koopman and Denzel Du Plessis scored second-half goals as the Duncan Crowie-coached team were declared champions of the six-day tournament.
