Chiefs Aiming For Baxter & Ntseki?
After Kaizer Chiefs sacked Gavin Hunt on Friday, it is believed that Amakhosi have identified Stuart Baxter as his potential replacement.
iDiski Times already reported two weeks ago in edition 19 that a return of Baxter is “being touted at Naturena”.
Despite his exploits in the CAF Champions League, where the Glamour Boys have reached the semi-final for a first time in their history, Chiefs’ management sacked Hunt on Friday.
The news didn’t come as a surprise for many after Hunt’s men did win just two of their last 16 DStv Premiership games and only sit five points above the relegation playoff-spot.
Chiefs management confirmed that “assistant coaches Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard will take charge of the senior team in the interim”.
However, iDiski Times understands that the duo could already be replaced before the end of this campaign, with Chiefs intensifying their attempts to bring back Baxter.
The 67-year-old was the last Chiefs coach to lift a trophy and is currently a free agent after being sacked by Indian side Odisha in February after making a reckless “rape” comment during a post-match press conference.
In addition to Baxter, Molefi Ntseki could also join the club either as his assistant or Technical Director, this publication understands.
Ntseki was serving as Baxter’s assistant in the national team between 2017 and 2019 before becoming head coach himself. However, he left his role last month after failing to qualify for next year’s AFCON.
