Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of their head of the scouting department Walter Steenbok.
Amakhosi said in a statement that Steenbok has left the club to focus on his PhD in Sport Science.
“Kaizer Chiefs Football Club has parted ways with Mr Walter Steenbok. He was in charge of the Scouting Department, overseeing the research, analysis and recruitment component of the Club,” the club stated.
“Steenbok has been accepted to do his PhD in Sports Science by the University of Johannesburg and has requested the Club to release him from his duties in order for him to pursue his studies and other possibilities in football.
“Kaizer Chiefs wishes Mr Steenbok all of the best in future endeavours.”
Steenbok himself said: “I would like to thank the Executive Chairman Kaizer Motaung, the Board and Football Manager Bobby Motaung for the opportunity to grow and work within the biggest institution in football. Good luck to the entire Chiefs family.”
Steenbok is understood to be among the final three candidates for SAFA Technical Director role, but the candidate is yet to be announced.
