The arbitration case involving Kaizer Chiefs two matches that they failed to honour has been postponed.
The first sitting of the arbitration was held today under SAFA arbitrator Nazeer Cassim SC, and TimesLive reports that the matter has been postponed until Mid-march, pencilled in for the 15th and 16th.
Chiefs’s camp were struck with positive Covid-19 cases in December, and they failed to honour fixtures against Cape Town City and Golden Arrows.
The PSL was unable to honour a request to postpone the fixtures, and Chiefs are in line to see those fixtures handed as walkovers to their opponents.
Chiefs are currently fourth, 19 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, however including those two fixtures, have played four games less than Sundowns.
The postponement to mid-March is unlikely to be the outcome the PSL leadership wanted, with the league’s new prosecutor Zola Majavu confirming the next PSL Disciplinary Committee meeting was postponed to February 25, pending the outcome of the arbitration.
They wanted to resolve the situation, which has been lingering on since December, as quick as possible, but it seems the case will still drag on longer.
