Pirates were almost in the lead after just three minutes of play, with Keegan Mitchell’s shot going over the bar.
Buccaneers tried to get an early goal as they got two corners within 20 minutes, but Kaizer Chiefs defence was sold to protect its goalkeeper.
Amakhosi were in front in the 26th minute as Aden McCarthy converted with a powerful header from a corner kick.
Just before the referee blew the half-time whistle, both teams pressed each other but failed to convert their chances.
The game went to break with Amakhosi leading by 1-0, but Pirates were also fighting to equalize.
Pirates, though, found themselves trailing by 2-0 as Chiefs captain Radebe netted a beautiful goal in the 65th minute.
Pirates made changes with 25 minutes to go, bringing in Nkosinathi Temba, Ndebele and Sonwabo Ndaba but that couldn’t help them as Francis scored in the 82nd minute from a tight angle to make it 3-0 for Chiefs.
Amakhosi had done enough to hold on for the three points on the day.
