Chippa Boss Reacts To Eight Game Winless Run
A dejected Chippa United head coach Gavin Hunt has lamented their lack of cutting edge after their last-minute defeat to Cape Town City extended their winless run to eight games.
Following an opening day victory over Sekhukhune United and a draw against reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns, there was widespread optimism around the Chili Boys.
But Hunt’s side has now suffered five defeats and two draws while scoring only two goals and conceding 11 in the seven games that have followed.
Speaking after the game where Abdul Ajagun came clutch with a late winner, the four-time league winner appeared crestfallen by their current slump.
“I thought we had some unbelievable chances, they had two the whole game and scored in the 90th minute. I thought we had unbelievable chances again today around the box but you know you have to take them,” he said.
“Obviously [the last-minute goal] is disappointing because it could have been… we had so many opportunities before that so, it’s a problem for us…”
The Gqeberha-based outfit face 11th placed Maritzburg United on Sunday afternoon at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium next (15h30).
