Chippa Welcome Malesela Back

Dan Malesela has officially been unveiled as the new Head Coach of Chippa United, replacing Lehlohonolo Seema.

Malesela returns to Chippa for a fourth stint in charge of the Eastern Cape side, having previously coached the team two years ago for the last time.

Four days ago the club had initially announced Belgian Luc Eymael to succeed Seema, but a public outcry, and outcries from SAFA and the Eastern Cape government, led Chippa Mpengesi to back-track, and not employ the former Free State Stars coach. Eymael has been accused of making racial utterances during his time in Tanzania earlier this year.

Malesela had started the season at TS Galaxy, but parted ways with the club a week ago, after a run of no wins in six games.

Chippa are currently 14th on the DSTV Premiership table, with just one win in their eight games.

“We are very excited to have ‘Dan Dance’ back in our Club structures,” Chairman, Mr. Siviwe Mpengesi said.

“He has always been well liked by our different supporters’ branches, and we did not hesitate to link him back with the Chilli Boys when that opportunity presented itself.”

“We have a person that is familiar with the position that we find ourselves in, our brand, the team culture as well as our Club ambitions. I wish him well in this journey and towards helping the team in our desired achievements for this season.”
