Cape Town City have bid farewell to goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh, who is heading back to the Netherlands having signed for FC Groningen in the Eredivisie.
Leeuwenburgh spent three seasons in Cape Town, with the former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper having joining City at the start of the 2018/2019 season.
The Dutch goalkeeper played in 92 games in all competitions for City and was the first-choice goalkeeper throughout his stay in South Africa. He also leaves with silverware, having played a major role in City’s MTN8 trophy win in 2018.
It looks like City will have a new goalkeeper for their last two remaining DStv Premiership games, with Marc Anderson or Reid Bombay set to don the gloves.
Neither have played in the top flight before, though Bombay has got senior football experience having played in the GladAfrica Championship for Steenberg United in the 2019/2020 season.
