SuperSport United have announced that Head Coach Kaitano Tembo and a number of regulars will miss this evening’s match against Mamelodi Sundowns, after the club was hit with a number of new positive covid-19 cases.
The club announced this shortly before this evening game, which is set to kick off at 20h15.
“Given the rapid spread of the latest wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SuperSport United camp has not been left unaffected by it,” their statement read.
“A number of players and club officials have tested positive in recent days, having a major impact on the club having access to its full playing squad. Included amongst those returning positive results is Head Coach Kaitano Tembo who will be replaced in the coach’s dugout by Assistant Coach Andre Arendse for the DStv Premier league match against Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns today.
“The starting team will exclude a number of regulars who are either positive or are in isolation as a result of having been in close contact with players testing positive.
“All affected players and officials are in good spirit, displaying minor symptoms. The club’s medical staff is constantly monitoring the condition of all players.”
The team is set to announce their starting line-up in the next hour.
