Orlando Pirates co-caretaker coach Fadlu Davids says he hopes his side can carry the momentum from their CAF Confederations Cup win when they will welcome Royal AM at Orlando Stadium on Thursday.
The two teams will be meeting for a first time in the history after Royal AM bought the DStv Premiership status of Bloemfontein Celtic.
Davids believes that it will be a tough encounter for his side and it will depend whether Buccaneers can unlock their opponents’ defence.
“Of course we play a difficult side, an awkward side with five defence line. A real continuity of Bloemfontein Celtic of the last season, plus adding the strength of the Royal AM players, so really tough encounter,” Davids told club’s media department.
“One we have to unlock five defence line, one we have to signify our dominance in the game. We have a home game, and it’s about us to unlock and score goals.”
The Buccaneers’ coach also hopes his side can continue the momentum they gained in the CAF Confederations Cup after beating Diables Noirs 1-0 to progress to the second qualifying round.
“A good win, we can take a lot of positives out of qualifying to the next round of CAF. We take those positives and hold on them and continue the momentum,” he added.
“We want to keep a dominant performance and a dominant performance will be equal to a good result.”
The Buccaneers welcome the KwaZulu-Natal outfits at Orlando Stadium later today at 17:30.
