Davids On His And Ncikazi’s Job Titles

Orlando Pirates co-assistant coach Fadlu Davids was asked to explain the titles of him and co-coach Mandla Ncikazi since Josef Zinnbauer left the club.

The duo have taken over on the sidelines after Josef Zinnbauer had resigned before the 2021-2022 DStv Premiership campaign had started.

The co-coaches saw Pirates collect just two draws, two wins and one lose so far since they took incharge.

“To be honest, coach Mandla and I are not looking at titles and ‘permanent’ or ‘non-permanent’. We’re looking at the next game and the process of the team,” he told reporters.

“We want to improve the team, we want to take the team to the next level, with the ball, without the ball and build a unity in the team, a team cohesion.

“By no means are we discussing every day ‘permanent’ or ‘not-permanent, are we in the shop window or not? No, we prepare for the next game and that is only our focus at this point in time.

“Coach Mandla and I, we run all aspects of the football side. That’s making decisions together, both of us are also in charge of training, in charge of decision-making  in charge of line up, in charge of substitutes, in charge of the squad, all football-related issues,” Davids told reporters.

“We have a clear understanding of how we are working, and taking charge of all technical things.”

Davids also stated that while they suffered a tough defeat to Masandawana, their objective at this moment in time is to focus on the next game.

“Orlando Pirates is the team that want to win every game, we want to be up there, it’s really disappointing, it was a moment for us to really go above Sundowns with a win today,” he added.

“And unfortunately, we could not get a win. So our objectives are clear, we take it game by game at this moment in time, and you always want to win the next game, which is always the most important.

“We have one game now before the FIFA break which is Cape Town City. Although it’s away from home we want to collect maximum in that game.
