Dove – The Fire Is Still Burning Inside
Having recovered from the injury that kept him out last season, Cape Town City defender Edmilson Dove, who still harbours ambitions of playing in Europe, is ready to hit the ground running this season.
The Mozambican international missed almost all of last season after having knee surgery, but has now recovered and has been playing a part in City’s pre-season friendlies.
Dove, who was interviewed by Rob Delport in last week’s iDiski Times, says he came to South Africa to improve and still dreams of playing abroad.
He hopes that the opportunity still comes in the next season or two, and so he is eager to impress in this coming campaign.
“Ja, of course. I mean, for every football player, I think ambition is something that it has to be there always, you know, and especially for me, myself,” Dove told iDiski Times.
“When I came to South Africa, I came to improve and it has gone well, you know, but that fire burning inside of me of still wanting to play in Europe is still there, you know, and if luck goes my way, hard work is something that will always be there, because, for me, as a football player, I have to work as hard as I can each and every day.
“So of course I still have those ambitions and I hope in the next one or two seasons I can be able to accomplish that dream.”
