Downs Agree Terms With Mokoena, European Interest Confirmed

Teboho Mokoena’s time at SuperSport looks to be coming to an end after he’s agreed personal terms with Mamelodi Sundowns, but there could be a late twist with Anderlecht also interested.

Over the past few months there has been major speculation about the future of the 24-year-old, and SuperSport chairman Stan Matthews had already indicated that they would allow the player to move on.

Now Mokoena’s intermediary Glyn Binkin has confirmed that the player, who was also also previously chased by Chiefs, has agreed personal terms with Sundowns.

“We have agreed personal terms with Sundowns and now it is club-to-club discussions over a fee,” Binkin was quoted as saying by TimesLIVE.

“Those discussions are also at quite an advanced stage. Sundowns are very keen to bring the player in during this transfer window.”

The two club’s, however, still have to agree on a transfer fee, while Binkin also confirmed that Belgian giants Anderlecht have made enquirie about the Bafana Bafana midfielder.

“There has been interest from clubs in Europe, though it is quite difficult to get transfers abroad in the current environment,” he added.

“A lot of clubs there are consolidating and unless they have a specific need for a particular player, it is difficult to get a move.

“But Anderlecht have made an inquiry and we will speak to them to hear their position. They have been tracking Teboho for a while so know what a quality player he is.”

Binkin also confirmed there was interest from Amakhosi, but they are no longer an option, with either Sundowns or a move to Europe being the likely destination for one of the DStv Premiership’s most wanted players.
