Downs Star Confirms Exit?

Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento has seemingly confirmed his exit from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Last week local media reported that Nascimento was on his way out of the club after he was not registered as one of the five foreign players, and now the 35-year-old looks to have confirmed his time with the club is over.

The Brazilian is celebrating his 35th birthday today, and took to Twitter to thank well wishers, while he also thanked Sundowns for their support.

“Thanks for the support, Sundowns fans!” he said.

“I really enjoyed and was very happy at Mamelodi Sundowns!! Thank You 🙏🏽💛”

Nascimento spent the past six seasons at the DStv Premiership champions, joining the club in 2016 and during his time with the club he won four Premiership titles, as well as a Telkom Knockout trophy, the Nedbank Cup, the CAF Champions League, and CAF Super Cup.

He featured 139 times in all competitions, scoring 17 goals. However this past season he featured in just six games, with just three starts.

The club is set to welcome Bolivian Erwin Saveerda, and Nascimento’s exit frees up a foreign registration slot.
