A Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper has revealed that he when initially started playing football, he was used as a winger.

Brandon Petersen says he had played as a midfielder while he was a boy at amateur teams, but had to cut it short since he was willing to be a shot-stopper.

The former Ajax Cape Town captain joined Amakhosi in September 2020 as a free agent – after his previous club Bidvest Wits was sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

“When I started playing, I started at a team called Central AC. I think I played one day because they didn’t want me to be a goalkeeper,” the 27-year-old told the Chiefs’ media department.

“So I played as a right-winger, and it was too much running, from there I went to Trinitarians FC, I think has been two or three years.

“From there I went to Ajax Cape Town under 15, and then from Ajax I got to the PSL side in 2013, from Ajax I went to BidVest Wits, from Wits to Kaizer Chiefs currently.”
