Confirmed: City Sign Gambian Winger

After the departure of five regular first team squad members, Cape Town City have continued to fill in the gaps after acquiring a young winger from The Gambia.

Kajally Drammeh, who will turn 19 in October, is set to link up with City in the coming days, after penning a deal with John Comitis’ club.

In the past month City have sold Surprise Ralani, Abbubaker Mobara, Fagrie Lakay and Abdul Ajagun, while Edmilson Dove also left after a mutual termination.

So far the club has brought in two other signings, young Cape Town forward Mo May, and Venezuelan winger Darwin Gonzalez.

Drammeh will be the third, however the club is likely to only unveil him when he finally arrives in South Africa.

The Gambian U20 international, who was part of the team that finished third at the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, has seen complications arise in his travel plans, and is yet to arrive in South Africa.

City’s recruiting may also not be over, as they have reportedly had a few players training with the team over the past few weeks, including Jordan Bender, former Highlands Park and TS Galaxy defender Kevin Etafia, and a young Cameroonian midfielder, Brice Ambina.

While the transfer window is shut, the club can still sign free agents.

However the club is also likely to give a few of their younger players opportunities in the remainder of the season, and there have been a few DDC players shining regularly with the first team in January friendlies.
