Royal AM and Cape Town City both missed opportunities to go clear of Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Champions League-spot race on Wednesday.
The Citizens drew 0-0 with Chippa United earlier, before Royal AM lost 1-0 to Maritzburg United.
As a consequence, Chiefs were given a lifeline in the race for second spot, with Thwihli Thwahla remaining on 45 points, with City levelling the same points tally but missing out on going above Royal AM.
Chiefs, meanwhile follow in fourth place with 42 points after their 1-0 victory over Marumo Gallants.
At the bottom of the table, Baroka secured an important three points to move to 21 points, just two behind Swallows, while Maritzburg and Chippa moved to 27 points with three games still to be played.
