Galaxy Move Up With Swallows Win

TS Galaxy moved off the bottom of the DStv Premiership table and out of the relegation zone as they beat Swallows 1-0 at Dobsonville Stadium, despite being reduced to ten men for the final twenty minutes.

Earlier in the day Chippa United and Royal AM drew 2-2.

Swallows 0-1 TS Galaxy

Galaxy walked away 1-0 winners against Swallows at the Dobsonville Stadium.

In a hard-fought first half, Galaxy took the lead in the 34th minute when Chimi Kwem was on hand to finish after being set up by Lindokuhle Mbatha, who did good work down the left before cutting it back for the Nigerian striker.

While Swallows pushed hard to get level in the second half, they were struggling to make in-roads in the final third, and when they did their efforts were off target.

However Galaxy were dealt a blow in the 69th minute when Ebrahim Seedat was shown a second yellow card for a professional foul, and Sead Ramovic’s team were reduced to ten men.

But Galaxy were steadfast, and held on as Swallows pushed hard, but continued to fail to threaten the goal with wayward efforts.

Galaxy leapfrog Swallows, and now bottom-placed Baroka, and move into 14th place.

Chippa United 2-2 Royal AM

Royal AM came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Chippa United at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Royal AM had more possession than the hosts, and far more clear-cut chances in the opening 15 minutes of play, but failed to capitalise.

Despite that early domination, Royal AM found themselves behind when Veluyeke Zulu put Chippa in front in the 19th minute, tapping in after excellent work from former AM player Siphelele Luthuli to set him up.

It was 2-0 in the 23rd minute, Bienvenu Eva Nga breaking free from on the counter, before unselfishly laying it back for Luthuli who made no mistake.

But AM quickly pulled one back through new recruit Mxolisi Macuphu in the 30th minute after the Chilli Boys’ goalkeeper Ayanda Mtshali fumbled a cross.

Both teams came back strong from the break, but couldn’t take the chances that were created.

But, Thwihli-Thwahla took control towards the end of the match and Macuphu completed his brace in the 90th minute.

It’s a result that sees AM move to third position in the DStv Premiership table, while the Gqeberha-based club remains 13th.
