Johnson Responds To Chiefs, Pirates Links

March 26, 2022

Former Al Ahly assistant coach Cavin Johnson believes he could make a difference at Kaizer Chiefs or Orlando Pirates amid being linked with the Soweto giants.

Johnson has been out of work since leaving the Egyptian giants where he worked alongside Pitso Moismane to secure the CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup and Egypt Cup titles last season.

Known for his incredible success in development football with the likes of Gift Links and Kobamelo Kodisang being nurtured by him during his time at the now-defunct Platinum Stars, his stint at Ahly brought a new experience on the continent working with Africa’s most successful club.

That, along with his decade of experience of coaching in the top-flight has seen him linked with several hot seats, none more so than the Soweto giants.

“I am honoured for my name to be mentioned around Chiefs and Pirates. I think I have the capability to work for such big teams…I can do that,” Johnson told iDiski TV at Junior Khanye’s book launch.

“It’s always difficult at this time of the season, it’s halfway through the season…most clubs are settled and many of them have 10 matches remaining.

“Some coaches will continue with their current contracts into next season, if Chiefs and Pirates do come around, I am sure I can make a difference.”
