Khanye Names 4 Coaches To Replace Baxter

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has named four coaches, who could replace Stuart Baxter at Kaizer Chiefs.

The iDiskiTV analyst, who was an outspoken critic of Baxter, stated he believes the club made the right call by letting the Englishman go.

However, many are now asking who should replace him in the dugout, with Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard leading the team until the end of the season.

Khanye, though, believes a club of Chiefs’ stature needs a more experienced coach than Zwane, even though he ticks many of the other boxes for the Soweto giants.

“In my opinion, Arthur can’t coach Kaizer Chiefs next season. Now as an interim coach it’s good but you need a lo of experience in that seat,” he told iDiski Times journalist David Kappel.

“For now, Arthur can build the confidence. He understands a lot of players that played with him at the youth ranks.

“He’s a coach who played for the club for many, many years and he understands the culture of the club.

“He needs to build the confidence of the players now. My advice to him; can he put confidence in those players, can he make those players understand that they’re good players. But build for next season.”

However, Khanye has other favourites to take over the reins at Naturena on a long-term basis.

“I will be happy if I can see Cavin Johnson there. Cavin Johnson with Eric Tinkler or Cavin Johnson with Dan Malesela,” he added.

“Pitso [Mosimane] would be the right person because I know he would reshuffle that team.

“It’s good that they appointed Kaizer Jr, a football person, very humble person, I played with him. He understands the game. The way he speaks, tells a lot.

“Back to the coach – Chiefs need a coach that the players believe in. A coach that will take Njabulo Ngcobo to centre-back, where he won Defender of the Season last year.

“A coach that will make those youngsters understand that they are no longer youngsters, they are playing for a big team. A coach that will bring back the culture.”
