Sekhukhune United coach MacDonald Makhubedu has revealed why the team has signed two strikers in this transfer window.
Babina Noko announced the signings of Justin Shonga, Evans Rusike and Luckyboy Mokoena earlier this week to boost their squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.
Makhubedu believes that his troops were doing well, but there was one department the team felt they had to add depth into – which is in the striking section.
The DStv Premiership newcomers have had a great first half of the season – having been in eighth spot with 25 points after they played 17 games, and now bolstered their squad with three seasoned players.
“We looked at our team towards the end of the first round, our last games were not good,” Makhubedu told Nyiko Sithole on MLFM SABC radio.
“After our game with Chippa (United), we sat down and checked what is the problem, we found that we were not scoring goals, but we kept many clean sheets, it means the problem was in the striking department.
“The concern was in the striking department, the creativity was not enough, that’s why we brought the likes of Shonga, and Rusike who was training with us recently.
“These players were active recently, Luckboy was playing at Galaxy, Rusike was training with us and Shonga was playing in Egypt.
“We even played a friendly game – where Rusike scored three goals and Shonga scored one, so they are good, and they will add value.”
