Ncikazi Confirms Six Bucs Stars Sidelined For Derby

Orlando Pirates co-caretaker coach Mandla Ncikazi has confirmed that six players will be sidelined with injuries ahead of the Soweto derby.

The Buccaneers will face their arch-rivals in Saturday’s derby, sitting ahead of Kaizer Chiefs on the log.

However, Ncikazi has revealed that they still have a full treatment table, with more than half a team sidelined.

“Please forgive me if I forget some, that’s how much we have in terms of injuries,” he said ahead of the game.

“(Richard) Ofori is still out, (Wayne) Sandilands is recovering from an injury, (Innocent) Maela is still out, (Happy) Jele is out, he has done his operation.

“(Zakhele) Lepasa is going through rehab, (Thembinkosi) Lorch is also going through rehab.

“There is a whole team list that is on the outside without complaining, we just take predestination and assume why so many? But it happens in every club, it’s something extra ordinary but we’re going to go through and maybe good things are going to follow after the injuries.”

Chiefs won the last Soweto derby, but before that Pirates were victorious thrice – not counting the Carling Black Label Cup.

The lock horns again on Saturday at 15:30 at the FNB Stadium.
