Ncikazi Ready To Witness First Soweto Derby

Orlando Pirates co-caretaker coach Mandla Ncikazi has opened up on preparing for his first the Soweto Derby on the sidelines.

It will be the first official Soweto Derby since Ncikazi joined the club from Golden Arrows in June this year to become an assistant coach for the former club coach Josef Zinnbauer.

The Buccaneers will clash with arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the DStv Premiership for the third time this year, with Ncikazi to be in-charge alongside Fadlu Davids this time.

“You spoke about debutants, I’m also one of them, new experience,” Ncikazi told reporters on Thursday.

“Like Bernard (Parker) just said, you even see the difference in training, the preparedness, the healing from players that have been injured, it already sets the tone that is the biggest match in the PSL fixture.

“The players look ready. You’ll never know how ready you are for the Derby. It’s what happens on the day of the match that will determine the outcome.”

Pirates face Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 15:30.
