Ngcobo On Chiefs’ Midfield Role
Njabulo Ngcobo has briefly spoken about his midfield role under Stuart Baxter ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ clash against AmaZulu.
The 27-year-old was named DStv Premiership Defender of the Season but has been shifted to midfield by Baxter over recent weeks.
The Englishman’s decision seems to bear fruit as they have won four of their last five games, including a Soweto Derby victory over Orlando Pirates.
Ngcobo believes the team have found into their stride and he is also getting more comfortable playing in midfield rather than defense this season.
“We’re getting there as a team, for now we are doing okay. I’m getting used to playing in the midfield,” he told the club’s official website.
The Bafana Bafana international is targeting another three points against last season’s runners-up AmaZulu, who sit in eighth place on the log.
“For us getting three points means a lot. Our performance is boosting us,” he added.
“We need to keep working hard and maintain what we’re doing, so we can get maximum points.”
Chiefs currently sit in sixth position on the log, but are just three points short of second-placed Stellenbosch.
Wednesday’s game kicks off at 17:30 at the FNB Stadium.
