Supersport United have ended speculation around the club’s sale and appointed Gavin Hunt as new coach.
Hunt, 57, returns to the club after leading them to three successive league titles between 2007 and 2009, while also adding Nedbank Cup title in 2011/12.
Overall, Hunt spent six years with Matsatsantsa during his first spell and has now returned to his former club following his extended absence from the sidelines after stints with Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United.
On Thursday, Hunt was unveiled as new SuperSport coach during a press conference.
“SuperSport United FC is pleased to confirm the return of coach Gavin Hunt as head coach on a two- year deal,” the club said in a statement.
“In his previous spell with the club, Hunt joined Matsatsantsa in 2007 and led the team to a historic three consecutive league championship titles between 2008 and 2010, with a Nedbank Cup title under his belt in 2012.”
Hunt is the permanent replacement of Kaitano Tembo who had been fired in April and was initially replaced by Andre Arenas on an interim basis.
The club also confirmed that SSU are not for sale.
