Parker – This Chiefs Star Will Go Far
Kaizer Chiefs stand-in captain Bernard Parker says his young teammate Sibusiso Mabiliso has got a bright future in football.
The 22-year-old left-back was given a big role to play in the recent Soweto Derby between Amakhosi and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium, where Chiefs won 2-1.
Mabiliso had to fill in the space for the injured S’fiso Hlanti after he had picked up an achilles injury in training and Parker believes he did a great job.
“Mabiliso came in, he came in immediately he gets on my side, on the left side. We were the wing, the wing pairing on the left side,” Parker told Thabiso Mosia on SAFM.
“And he’s the boy who will go very far in his career, he’s a good listener, he made sure that we had no problems on our side during the derby.
“And big up for him, he’s got a bright future in front of him, if he continues to receive information he will definitely grow and improve as a player.”
The Amakhosi veteran has also clarified his position in Baxter’s line-up, saying he does whatever the coach tells him to do depending on the approach of the game.
“Yes, on the day, the coach wants us to play the 4-3-3 formation, and I was playing on the left of the three, but actually as a left striker closer to (Khama) Billiat so I could make a good runs behind, I could compete for areal balls, I could also add to Billiat and (Keagan) Dolly to attack,” he added.
“So that was my role for the past three games, and it’s been working for me. And that is what the coach asked me to do. So, I think so far so good. I’m doing the role, instructions, as the way we plan it.”
