Sekgota – We Are Aware Of Middendorp Threat
Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has insisted that his side are aware of the threat Ernst Middendorp and his team pose when they meet Amakhosi’s former coach.
The 24-year-old missed some parts of the season after picking up an injury but made three late appearances in Chiefs’ last three league games.
He had more time to return to full fitness during the international break and revealed how his side have prepared for their clash with Maritzburg.
“We rested a bit during the break, but we’ve been back at training for a number of days and fully focused on the next game,” Sekgota told the club’s media department.
“Our preparation was not hugely affected by other players’ absence because they were training with the national teams,” adds the speedy Sekgota.
“We also kept in contact with some of them that were representing us and we were fully behind them with our support and hoping they do well.
“We are happy to have them back in the fold so we can all now focus on the next match.”
Sekgota also pointed to the threat that Middendorp and his team pose, with the German being in charge of the Glamour Boys between 2018 and 2020.
“We have been preparing for Maritzburg and are aware that their coach has some information about our team because he was here two seasons ago,” he added.
“Maritzburg will not be easy and they have not been an easy team to beat when they play at home. They also have also not had the greatest of starts so they are looking for maximum points.
“They will want to start picking up points so they can move away from the bottom half and we are aware of it. We are also looking for the three points so we can move up the log table. It will be a tough game.”
Chiefs currently sit in sixth place on the log with 15 points after 10 games, while Maritzburg are in 11th, four points behind them.
The Team of Choice will host Amakhosi at the Harry Gwala Stadium at 17:30 on Sunday.
