Truter Compares Swallows To Early Pitso Struggles
Swallows FC head coach Brandon Truter has compared their hard time with Pitso Mosimane’s early struggles at Mamelodi Sundowns after a 1-0 loss to Sekhukhune United at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday.
After ten games this season, Swallows have won just one, drawn five and lost four in the DStv Premiership so far.
Truter, though, believes his team will turn things around as they still have many games to go, saying even the best African coach went through the same.
“It’s not ideal, it’s not ideal considering what we did last season,” he said after the match.
“It’s not ideal, I would expect better, a bit more points on the board and that’s why we’re fighting hard for the win, that’s why we committing, we are leaving ourselves open at the back by committing numbers to get a win. So yeah, it’s not an ideal situation, (but) it’s 20 games to get 60 points to play for.
“But it reminds me about one of the best coaches in Africa, Pitso (Mosimane) who went through this period at Sundowns and then he turned it around. And we are not the team that loses much, we’re not the team that lose a lot, so this one is hard to take after coming unbeaten in the last three and then the fourth one we get the loss.
“So it’s hard to take, but a bit of patience, a bit of calmness, and we’ll get it right, that ball will go in. So yeah 20 games still to go. It reminds me like I said about Pitso when things weren’t working at the beginning with him at Sundowns and then turn around and that’s how he repaid them.
“But that comes with patience, that comes with belief, that comes with having faith. And right now after this loss, we are a bit down, so it’s about getting motivated for the next game with the FIFA break giving us a bit of time.”
