AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has confirmed the club has agreed to two major deals with Orlando Pirates after he himself spoke with Dr Irvin Khoza.
Usuthu confirmed on Wednesday that they would give Brandon Truter the head coach role for the upcoming season after being impressed with his interim reign since replacing Benni McCarthy.
Zungu later spoke to Victor Molefe on Ukhozi FM and confirmed that his side will release as many as 13 players, while the club are looking to sign eight new players.
However, the biggest news of the day was the confirmation of Thapelo Xoki’s move to the Buccaneers, as reported in iDiski Times edition 53, while Gabadinho Mhango will join the KwaZulu-Natal based side.
“We have 30 players not including MDC, we will release 13 and some of them are running out of contract, we won’t renew, we will sign eight players and already spoken with some,” Zungu told Ukhozi FM.
“Dr Irvin Khoza did contact me personally about Thapelo Xoki and we’ve spoken, i respect him for the way he handled it, so Xoki will leave us, he played his last game yesterday and Gabadinho Mhango is joining us.”
The two players have experienced different fortunes at their respective clubs, with Xoki making 38 appearances for Usuthu this campaign.
Mhango, meanwhile, has only had a bit-part role at Orlando Stadium, featuring only 10 games all season despite his heroics for Malawi at the African Cup of Nations earlier in the year.
