Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has finally broken his silence on reported talks with Bongani Zungu.
Zungu, 29, is currently a free agent after his contract with Ligue 2 side Amiens SC expired.
He has been linked with a move back to South Africa, with SABC Sport reporting Mamelodi Sundowns have increased their offer for the midfielder.
There have been reports that Chiefs had made an even bigger offer to Zungu than Masandawana’s initial offer, but Zwane has now dismissed those claims.
“We were never interested in Bongani Zungu,” Zwane told Victor Molefe on Ukhozi FM, leaving little to no room for the rumour to continue.
Chiefs have signed seven players so far, namely Ashley Du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, Yusuf Maart, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, George Matlou, Sinethemba Sithebe and Dillan Solomons.
