Freese – We’ll Do Much Better

While disappointed to lose the first playoffs game against Chippa United, Richards Bay head coach Allan Freese says his team played well and will bounce back.

Freese was speaking after Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Chippa in the first game of the playoffs, that finally kicked off after legal wrangles.

It was Freese’s first game in charge since leaving Free State Stars, and he says the uncertainty around when the games would start played on their minds bit.

“Ja, it was nice to play,” Freese said after the game.

“But after a long time of uncertainty, we come and play, we’re not playing, what’s on the player’s mind? We had to keep on motivating the boys, get their minds right for the game. They gonna play then you’re not gonna play. So it also I think interfered with the boys a little bit.

“But I think we had a good game. Ja, unfortunately, we conceded those two goals, which we shouldn’t. We should have also scored, which we didn’t score, but I’m happy. Okay, the game was okay.

“My first game here, the game was okay. I think we played well. But going forward, I think we’ll do much better. That I’m positive of. The guys gave it their all and I think much better going foward, ja.”

Richards Bay are scheduled to play again on the 24th, when they host Royal AM.
