French club FC Bondues, who have hosted Bafana Bafana during their time in France, have been delighted to have the South Africans training at their facilities.
Bafana have been training in Bondues, a suburb of Lille, where they will face world champions France on Tuesday at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
The local club, approximately 5km away from the hotel where Bafana is staying, is home to around 900 footballers, featuring teams from under-six, right up to senior sides, featuring players in their fifties.
“We have 36 teams playing here every weekend, in different age groups, from the under-6s to seniors,” ” 56-year-old senior player Gerard Vanneste was quoted as saying by SAFA.
“We have four teams of senior players and I am one of them. We have a lot of young teams…… it is a big club.
“I am so happy to see the South African national team playing here. This is so good for our club.”
“This is the best club in the north of France.”
