GladAfrica Championship Round-Up

Despite drawing on the weekend, Richards Bay will remain top of the GladAfrica Championship going into 2022, albeit by goal difference only as JDR Stars joined them on 32 points.

Pitso Dladla’s side played to a goalless draw away against Free State Stars on Saturday, while JDR beat Black Leopards 1-0 thanks to a Temptation Chiwunga penalty.

The two leaders have now built a small lead, as there is now a four point gap  between them and other challengers.

Polokwane City moved to 28 points after beating TS Sporting 2-1, while Venda Football Academy hit the same mark after beating Hungry Lions 1-0.

AmaTuks missed a chance to join them on 28 points as they lost 2-1 to Tshwane rivals Pretoria Callies, while in the other result on Saturday Platinum City Rovers and Uthongathi drew 1-1.

On Sunday Cape Town All Stars missed a chance to move into the top four as they drew 1-1 away against Jomo Cosmos.

While in a potential six pointer, Shaun Bartlett’s Cape Town Spurs ended the year on a high, as Chico Bunga scored to give them a 1-0 win over Tshakhuma. The result sees them climb above TTM into 11th spot.

The GladAfrica Championship will now only resume in two months, with fixtures next scheduled for the 19th of February 2022.
