GladAfrica Team Has Points Deducted
Another GladAfrica Championship team has been hit by a DC ruling, as Polokwane City had three points docked for an administrative error earlier this year.
‘Rise and Shine’ were docked the three points after they failed to have five under-23 players in their squad for the match against Sekhukhune United in January. They only had four in the squad.
Co-incidentally this was still when Macdonald Makhubedu was in charge at Polokwane, and he has since left the club to join Sekhukhune. The man who was in charge at Sekhukhune at the time, Johnny Ferreira, is now at Polokwane.
This means that the club drops from 9th to 12th on the log, and they now have 34 points.
In an earlier DC ruling, three points were awarded to Cape Town Spurs for their match against Cape United, after the latter were unable to honour the fixture. United had been hit by positive Covid-19 results, and weren’t able to field a team. It is believed the club is still appealing this decision.
The penultimate round of GladAfrica fixtures will be played this weekend, and there is still a lot to be decided at both ends of the table, although it has already been confirmed that Bizana Pondo Chiefs will be one of the two teams relegated.
