Grobler – All You Want To Do Is Play The Next Game

SuperSport United striker, Bradley Grobler, who is currently the top goalscorer in the DStv Premiership, says that SuperSport are eager to get back on the pitch when they host Nedbank Cup winners Tshakhuma on Wednesday.

The league’s top scorer, who has 13 goals currently, only recently returned from injury, and will be eager to add to his goal tally.

SuperSport’s form in 2021 has been disappointing, as they found themselves struggling to get results, and the one-time league challengers are now sixth on the table, 19 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Grobler says that it’s been frustrating not playing regularly, as their last game was on the 1st of May, and they had been eager to get back on the pitch and turn things around.

“Ja, I think it’s been a bit of a frustrating period between our last game and now obviously waiting for this game, because we’ve come off a few results that have been very disappointing for us,” Grobler told the club media department.

“That’s not to say that our performances are bad, because I think it’s some of the best games we’ve played, which has put a lot of confidence in the team, and we’ve worked on those those positives in the last ten days, and we just been wanting to play again, when you’re on the run where, you’re not picking up results, all you want to do is play the next game.”

“So it’s been frustrating, but at the same time it’s been a good couple of days to prepare and work on those positives that we’ve been doing well at.”

Many teams suffer from a so-called ‘cup hangover’, but with 14th-placed Tshakhuma in a battle for points to escape the relegation, and Grobler isn’t too sure what to expect from Tshakhuma, as playing a team after they win a cup, can be unpredictable.

“Ja, TTM is a difficult side, I think we’ve played them, I don’t know, four or five times now the season with the MTN8 games and it’s a team that’s got a lot of good individual players, I think they’ve got a coach there now, that’s got the team believing in themselves,” Grobler continued.

“We saw that in the final over the weekend. And I think it’s a catch-22 it’s always a difficult time to play a team that’s been in a final because you never know what you’re gonna get.”

“I think they’ve been very good the last couple of months, and they were good in the final on the weekend, especially defensively, and we’re going to get a team that’s high on confidence now and ja, like I said, it’s a difficult time to play them, but at the same time, we’ve got to build on the positives, we’ve been doing well, we’ve been playing well, we just we just haven’t got the results.”

“So it’s a good opportunity for us to to get the result and to get back on to winning ways.”
