It was a full fixture weekend in the Hollywoodbets Super League with all 14 sides in action with Mamelodi Sundowns once again maintaining their unbeaten record.
The defending champions were 3-1 winners over First Touch Academy in Seshego and they lead the pack with 52 points from 18 matches while the Limpopo side are fifth with 31 points from the same number of games.
2021 Varsity Cup champions University of the Western Cape (UWC) claimed second place in their 17th outing, a 3-0 win over Tsunami Queens in the Mother City. UWC are now equal on 37 points with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in third position after they thrashed University of Johannesburg (UJ) 4-1. TUT have played 18 games.
Tsunami Queens remain at the bottom of the log with eight points from 22 encounters. On the even on the clash of the universities, a Disciplinary Hearing verdict into the cancelled game between UJ and Bloemfontein Celtic Ladies back in August, due to lack of emergency medical personnel, awarded UJ two goals and three points. The verdict coupled with the result against TUT means UJ are now placed ninth with 23 points from 20 matches.
Meanwhile Celtic lost 1-0 against JVW Girls in Tsakane and remain in sixth spot with 29 points from 21 matches while JVW are fourth with 36 points from 18 outings.
Thunderbirds Ladies narrowly defeated Coal City Wizards 1-0 in Witbank to sit behind Celtic with 28 points from 19 games while Wizards are 11th with 20 points from the same number of games.
In Mahikeng MaIndies Ladies won 4-1 over Golden Ladies, the rookies are eighth on the table with 25 points from 21 matches while Golden Ladies are second from bottom with 15 points also from 21 outings.
In the televised match of the weekend Nthabiseng Majiya’s brace wasn’t enough as Durban Ladies won 3-2 against Majiya’s Richmond United. Lonathemba Mhlongo netted the other brace of the game while Zamandosi Nene scored the other goal for the home side.
Durban Ladies remain third from bottom with 19 points from as many matches while United are 10th with 22 points from 21 encounters.
