Hunt Comments On Baxter Rumours
Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach Gavin Hunt has commented on rumours that he could be replaced by former Amakhosi boss Stuart Baxter.
The 56-year-old saw his side draw 1-1 with Swallows FC in the Soweto derby after conceding an early goal by Kagiso Malinga before birthday-boy Leonardo Castro found the equaliser shortly after.
But Chiefs were unable to find a winner in the game, and remain outside the top eight.
Hunt was asked about the stories circulating, linking Baxter with a return to the club after iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu discussed this in the latest edition of the newspaper.
“I haven’t heard a thing,” Hunt replied at the post match presser.
“I haven’t heard a thing. I’m not on social media anyway. So I don’t know what’s going on.”
Meanwhile, Hunt blamed poor defending for conceding and said it was two points lost on Wednesday.
“Pretty much, you know, obviously poor defending for the first goal and missed huge missed opportunities again,” he explained.
“Ja, final ball let us down, but I thought we were good, I thought we had a lot of good possession, good areas. But ja, that’s it. Two points lost.”
It has been a tough year for the four-time league-winning coach, who last season at this time was still at Bidvest Wits.
“Well the year’s obviously been, you know, personally, in terms of results-wise, this year has been my worst year ever in 27 years,” Hunt added.
“But if you understand football, you know, there’s a lot of things that we need to do, you know. So, ja, I can’t divulge into that.”
