Hunt Reveals Transfer Plans For Chippa
Newly appointed Chippa United head coach Gavin Hunt has revealed his transfer ambitions as he prepares to build a team ahead of the 2021/2022 DStv Premiership season.
The former SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs coach was unveiled by Chippa Mpengensi earlier the week, less than two months after Hunt was let go by Chiefs.
Hunt says that the current Chippa is squad is very thin, with just ten or eleven first team players remaining from last season.
“They’re gone, ja, there’s hardly any, I think there’s 10 or 11, left,” Hunt told iDiski Times‘ senior writer Velile Mnyandu.
“So it’s a real, as I said, a basin, now the work really starts, you know, how much is it about coaching, it’s about getting the right players now, and finding a way of playing, and get it competitive, you know.”
When asked what sort of players he would be looking at, Hunt said any affordable good player, knowing they can’t compete with some of the bigger budgets of clubs out there.
“Any good player that’s available that you can afford,” Hunt continued.
“It’s a basic market, you know, yes, we all want the best players, we can’t do like certain clubs, and just buy, and then just keep them in the stands.
“We’re gonna have to wheel and deal, you know, and make a few deals and, some teams have got big squads, maybe we can get one or two. And then we try and build it from there.”
Chippa already moved for goalkeeper King Ndlovu, who became the first signing of Hunt at the Chilliboys.
