Kaizer Chiefs Head Coach Gavin Hunt was disappointed with his team’s defensive work in the 2-2 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic on the weekend, but feels that overall it was a good performance.
Chiefs raced into a 2-0 lead, and Hunt says that in an away game, when you take that kind of lead, you need to defend better.
Chiefs are currently just outside the top eight, in 9th place, three points behind TS Galax
“Good performance, great performance again. I thought it was a good performance on Wednesday when we lost 1-0 and I thought it was a good performance again today,” Hunt said after the game.
“But the old achilles heel of our team is defending, and I always say you can’t win anything without good defending, but the defending starts from the front, and we’ve been unfortunate. And obviously as I said the whole season we’ve been making changes, forced changes, before halftime, after halftime and in football sometimes it also throws you off a little bit.
“But in saying that I thought we had the better of the chances, we had more than enough to win the game, but you can’t come away and score two goals and then draw the game. You come away, you should be defending better, but it is what it is.”
