Jomo – Pitso Knew What He Wanted In Life

Jomo Sono says he is not surprised by his former player Pitso Mosimane’s success and says Mosimane always knew what he wanted in life.

Mosimane, arguably Africa’s most successful coach, started his professional football career at Jomo Cosmos at the age of 16 under Sono, and now he is shining in Egypt, coaching Africa’s best team, Al Ahly.

This of course after a successful career at SuperSport United, as assistant and head coach of Bafana Bafana, before his historical run at Mamelodi Sundowns.

The legendary Sono, who is seen by many as South Africa’s greatest ever footballer, became known as a producer of talented players when he turned to coaching.

Sono was a happy man when Mosimane’s agency MT Sports visited him recently to honour him through the #PitsoWaLeboga tour.

Speaking to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu recently, Sono said he is not surprised by Pitso’s success, as he knows what Mosimane wanted from his young days.

“Pitso is level-headed. You know, he knew what he wanted in life,” Sono told iDiski Times.

“That’s important if you know what you want in life. And he’s been like that, he knew what he wanted in life. And that’s the difference. It’s not surprising. For me, I’m not surprised, I’m not shocked.

“Ever since was he a young kid at the age of 16, he was arrogant and stubborn, you know, very, very stubborn. If Pitso believes in what he’s believing, you can’t change him.”

Mosimane is set to lead Al Ahly in this week’s CAF Super Cup where he will look to add another trophy to his and the Egyptian club’s cabinet.
