Junior Khanye Book Out Soon

In what could be the most exciting news of the day, iDiski Times is happy to confirm that Junior Khanye’s book ‘Ghetto Ninja’ will hit the book stores soon.

The book, written by Nikolaos Kirkinis, who also published ‘The Curse of Teko Modise’ and ‘Strike a Rock: The Thembi Kgatlana Story’, will be available in two to three weeks, Khanye told this publication.

“I’m very, very excited,” the iDiskiTV analyst confirmed.

The book tells Khanye’s story from his upbringing in Daveyton to becoming a player for Kaizer Chiefs. It talks about his dancing on the pitch, but also his dancing off the field, about rising to stardom, but also crashing down to earth.

“Junior shares his experience of poverty, the death of his brother, soccer stardom, alcoholism, the murder of his father, and raising children, with great honesty,” reads the back page of Ghetto Ninja.

“Much more than a sports biography, Ghetto Ninja is Junior Khanye’s tragic, yet triumphant story.”

Author Kirkinis gave some more insights into the book: “Writing the book for me was very important, very special. A lot of footballers have approached me and I’ve turned down some famous names.

“Junior, for me, was a great choice because it’s a very exciting story. This is a look at almost the dark side of South African football. This is the ‘Sex, Drugs and Rockn Roll’ side of SA football, it’s hearing about one of the naughtiest generations South African football ever had and what went on behind the scenes.

“But ultimately it’s a story of tragedy and great triumph. The amount of times Junior’s life falls into absolute poverty and desperation, but the equal amount of times he manages to pull back up to being in a place nowadays where he is held in high regard and looked at as a leader – someone who has turned around his fortunes and that is really impressive when you read about everything he’s been through.”

We hope you’re as excited about Ghetto Ninja as we are. It should be in an Exclusive Books store near you from 28 February.
