Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has given his views on several Bafana Bafana players swapping shirts with their French counterparts after their 5-0 defeat.
South African players were seen taking pictures with the likes of Paul Pogba after the final whistle, while Ronwen Williams confirmed he exchanged shirts with Kylian Mbappe and Lyle Lakay did swap his jersey with Lucas Digne.
Some South African fans were seemingly upset with the antics, which are happening in football allover the world, leading iDiski Times to ask Khanye about his opinion.
“I don’t have a problem with changing jerseys,” he said.
“Even in Europe, when they play countries like Portugal, or in South America when they play Argentina, they’re changing shirts.
“It’s a matter of football being a game of love, showing how friendly you are – yes, you are lost but you were not fighting.
“But now where I have a problem is taking selfies on the pitch, I’ve got a problem with that. You could’ve done that but maybe away from tv cameras, maybe in or after the changing rooms.
“Not on the field, it shows disrespect, because players were still on the field, tv cameras were still there and they don’t know which cameras are facing them.
“Taking pics [on the pitch], while we lost 5-0 is disrespectful. Me as Junior Thabo Khanye I wouldn’t do that. Yes we look up to those players but they’re human after all.
“You don’t have to respect them that much by taking pics but I’ve got no problem with the swapping shirts, it’s being done allover the world.”
