Josef Zinnbauer has revealed what he told Gabadinho Mhango ahead of his free-kick goal against AmaZulu and addressed the touchline argument with Benni McCarthy.

The German tactician was visibly relieved after beating Usuthu 1-0 at the Orlando Stadium on Thursday.

The result saw Orlando Pirates close in on second place, sitting now four points behind AmaZulu with a game in hand.

Zinnbauer seemingly got involved in a debate with his players ahead of the Mhango’s winning goal and later revealed what he told his player ahead of the free-kick.

“What I said is ‘give a feeling in the ball, not too fast. Aim at your target and then it’s maybe a goal’,” he told SuperSport.

“But it’s luck. It’s luck. But we know Gabba has the chance. He can score this and he did really well.”

Zinnbauer also addressed the touchline tussle with McCarthy after both coaches were seen shouting at each other throughout the second half and had to be separated after the final whistle.

“It’s normal. It’s an important game, it’s a big game for both sides,” he explain.

“A draw and then it’s not easy for us to come closer to AmaZulu. We win the game and come closer.

“It’s emotion, it’s fighting for the three points and that the reason today.”
