Katsande Ready To Down Chiefs

Sekhukhune United midfielder Willard Katsande is relishing to face his former club Kaizer Chiefs when they meet for the first time in the DStv Premiership.

Katsande is set to face his former side for the first time since leaving the club he spent a decade with in the DStv Premiership.

In the absence of Chiefs in the league over the past two rounds of fixtures due to their Covid-19 outbreak, Sekhukhune has leapfrogged them in the table – something Katsande has been buoyed about.

However, after the surprise defeat against Marumo Gallants brought them down back to earth, he admits the squad are highly motivated ahead of facing what is expected to be a depleted Amakosi squad.

“We didn’t get three points we were looking for especially after coming from a win away from home. We were looking to build the momentum but we couldn’t but at the end of the day the league is a marathon, you win some, you lose some,” he said ahead of the Chiefs game.

“We’ve gone back to the drawing board trying to come back with a better plan going to an away match of which it’s key to bounce back. We’ve been doing well in the league and we want to continue doing well.

“We need to put our heads and feet on the ground and keep on working hard. The most important thing is about the team and the preparations are going well.

“The guys are calm, experienced guys who’ve been playing, who once played with my former team. So it’s not new faces, yes it’s a new fixture for the first time in the history of the club – but we know each other as players.

“It’s going to be an interesting one and we all know that Chiefs, without a doubt, are a huge team and they’re playing at home – I know how it is when they play at home. So we must expect a tough tough match.

“We must carry our underdog tag going to the match but when it starts it’s 11v11 and whoever wants it more will be rewarded.”

Babina Noko travel to Soweto this afternoon to face Chiefs at the iconic FNB Stadium (18h00).
