Kerr – I’m Very, Very Proud Of Them
An elated Tshakhuma Head Coach Dylan Kerr says it is a fantastic achievement for the club to have won the Nedbank Cup.
Kerr was speaking after TTM’s 1-0 win over Chippa United in the final at the Free State Stadium on Saturday evening.
It was a deserved for win for Tshakhuma, who lift their first ever silverware as a club.
Kerr has been at the club for almost three months, but only received his work permit earlier in the week. Prior to this game, his assistants Mpho Maleka and David Mathebula had sat on the bench, with Kerr issuing instructions from the stand.
“First half I thought we were the far better team,” a delighted Kerr said after the game.
“Halftime I said that the only way we’re going to let them back into the game is by giving possession away because they’re a goal down, they’re gonna have to come at us.”
“But I’m pleased with the way we defended, I think we defended very, very well in the second half, because they resorted to just playing it long balls, into the two strikers, Eva and Kwem and then Laffor when he came on, and we dealt with it.”
“I thought we did the job plan that we had, especially in the first half work very, very well. And, on another day, we could have got three or four.”
“But I’m, I’m very, very proud of them for what for what they did before I arrived, you know, was was horrendous. And how we’ve, we’ve turned it around has been fantastic.”
“And you know, that’s one cup final finished. Now we got the five cup finals, starting with SuperSport on Wednesday.”
