Khune Reacts To Chiefs Contract Extension

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has reacted to signing a two-year contract extension at the club.

The 34-year-old is one of five senior players who signed new deals with the Glamour Boys, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Khune has now for a first time commented on his new deal with the only club he’s only played for.

“I’m really grateful for yet another opportunity that I’ve been given by the club,” he told journalists.

“I think we’ve got a great goalkeeping department and a great goalkeeping coach. He has made it clear to us that we are all number ones and we have to fight for number one spot. We always had a healthy competition and no one is guaranteed a starting berth.

“We are all going to earn our place in the team. We are all going to support one another if we are not playing because we are not only doing it for own benefit but for the club’s benefit to help the club to achieve the goals we have been set for ourselves.

“But I’m very grateful for my new contract. I don’t know if it will be my last, it will depend on what I’ll do on the pitch.”
